David was appointed as the Managing Director of SABB in 2010. He has been a member of the SABB Board since 2009 and is also a member of the Board of HSBC Saudi Arabia Limited and HSBC Bank Middle East.
David has been with the HSBC Group since 1977. Before moving to SABB, he was the Deputy Chief Executive of HSBC Amanah and Chief of Administration, Global Banking and Markets, Middle East HSBC. Prior to that, David served as Chief Operating Officer for HSBC Bank USA and the Chief Auditor for HSBC North America. He has also held various senior positions with HSBC in Singapore, Italy, Oman and UAE.
David gained his first experience in Saudi Arabia when he worked as Deputy Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer of SABB from 2001-2004. David is an Associate of The Chartered Institute of Bankers and holds an MA in Economics from the University of Cambridge.
Søren Nikolajsen joined Alawwal bank as CEO and Managing Director in January 2017. He was a member of Alawwal bank’s Board of Directors from January 2014 and the Executive Committee from September 2015 until legal completion of the merger with SABB in June 2019.
Søren is also on the board of Alawwal Invest, the bank’s wholly owned Investment banking subsidiary, and of Wataniya Insurance Company, an associate company. Prior to joining Alawwal bank, Søren held various senior positions with The Royal Bank of Scotland in London and Hong Kong, including Chief Administrative Officer for Asia Pacific. Søren has over 30 years of international banking experience having worked in New York, London, Hong Kong, Riyadh and Copenhagen. He is an alumnus of London Business School and Copenhagen Business School.
Majed has been the Chief Executive Officer and Board member of HSBC Saudi Arabia since 2015, where he has led the transformation across all lines of business including Investment Banking, Asset Management, Brokerage and Securities Custody Services.
Majed has been with SABB & HSBC Group since 1992. He has held leadership positions as General Manager of Retail Banking & Wealth Management at SABB, Head of International at HSBC Middle East (Dubai) and the Chief Executive Officer of HSBC Bahrain .
Majed holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Management from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia.
Naif has been the General Manager Retail Banking and Wealth Management of SABB since 2014. Naif has been with SABB since 2012 holding senior roles in Private Banking, Wealth Management and Retail Banking. Prior to joining SABB, Naif spent seven years at National Commercial Bank in various senior positions within retail banking. In addition, Naif has been a board member and Executive Committee member of SANID and SABB Takaful, a board member of the Saudi Credit Bureau (SIMAH) and HSBC SA as well as Chairman of the Board at SABB Insurance Agency.
Naif holds a Masters of Science in Business Administration from the University of Illinois in Chicago, United States of America, and a Bachelor of Business Administration from King Saud University in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Mohammed was the General Manager Treasury of Alawwal bank since 2012. Prior to joining Alawwal bank, Mohammed has held various treasury roles since 1994 at Samba, with extensive experience across functions including cash management, sales and trading. During his time at Samba Financial Group, Mohammed was Head of the Fixed Income Investment portfolio, Money Market and Treasurer of Samba London, and a member of the group’s Executive Management Committee.
Mohammed holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance from King Saud University in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and has completed executive programs at INSEAD Fontainebleau and Oxford University.
Majed has been with Alawwal bank since 2006. As the Chief Operating Officer, Majed led key initiatives for the bank including the Operational Efficiency program and the Digital transformation of the bank. Prior to joining Alawwal bank, Majed worked in technology focused roles across multiple industries including Telecommunications, Defence, Technology, Healthcare and Aviation, including roles at AT&T, BAE Systems and Cerner.
Majed holds a Masters in Business Administration, a Masters of Science in Computer Science and a Bachelors of Science in Computer Science from King Saud University in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Mathew has been the Chief Financial Officer of SABB since 2016. Mathew has been with the HSBC group since 2004, and during this time has served as Chief Financial Officer Japan, Chief Accounting Officer and Chief Operating Officer India and other senior finance positions in HSBC Hong Kong and HSBC United Kingdom. Prior to joining the HSBC group, Mathew worked at PriceWaterhouseCoopers in the UK.
Mathew is a Chartered Accountant at the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales and holds a Bachelor in Business Studies and Japanese from Cardiff University in Cardiff, United Kingdom.
Faisal has been the General Manager Human Resources and Chairman of the People Committee of SABB since 2017. Faisal has been at SABB since 2011 and has served as Head of Performance, Reward and Organizational Development. Prior to joining SABB, Faisal was at Alawwal bank where he held various roles in the Human Resources team.
Faisal holds a Bachelor of Management Information Systems from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals in Dammam, Saudi Arabia.
Maha was the Chief Compliance Officer of Alawwal bank since 2018, where she has also served as Chief Governance Officer and Company Secretary. Maha has been at Alawwal bank since 2009 with roles across Board Secretariat, Legal and Compliance. Maha has also served as Secretary of the Saudi Banks Managing Directors Committee.
Maha holds a Masters of Science in International Finance from Kingston University in London, United Kingdom and a Bachelor of Arts in English Translation from King Saud University in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Richard has been the Chief Risk Officer of SABB since 2016. He is also a Non-Executive Director and Chair of the Board Risk Committee of SABB Takaful and a Member of the Board Risk Committee of HSBC Saudi Arabia. Prior to his current role, Richard was the Chief Risk Officer of HSBC Saudi Arabia. Richard has been with the HSBC group since 1993 when he joined as a graduate trainee and has extensive international experience as the Chief Operating Officer, Global Markets for South America in Sao Paulo, as Head of Market Risk in Latin America based Sao Paulo, Buenos Aires and Mexico City and the Chief Operating Officer GBM for Latin America. He was also the Global Head of KYC, Credit and Documentation for GBM, and Regional Head of Onboarding in London and New York. Richard holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Studies from the University of Bradford Management Center.
Sami has been the Chief Compliance Officer of SABB since 2013 and is also Chairman of the SABB Compliance Committee and Donation Committee, a member of the Audit Committee of HSBC SA and a Board Director of SABB Takaful. Prior to joining SABB, Sami served in various roles at banks in Saudi Arabia, including as Head of AML and CTF at Al Rajhi Bank and Saudi Hollandi Bank.
Sami is a Certified Compliance Officer of the Institute of Banking, SAMA and of the American Academy for Financial Management in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
