SABB TAQADAM programme has successfully finished its first six-month cycle. The programme is an initiative we have developed as part of our contribution to our people that aims to develop early stage entrepreneurs, engaging with them and providing them with the support and guidance they need. It is one of SABB's key steps towards interacting with the Kingdom's Vision 2030 What’s worth mentioning is that TAQADAM is the only multi-university startup accelerator in the Middle East. The entrepreneurs were accepted after participating in a highly competitive application process at the end of 2016.

During the period of the program, 26-start-ups from 13 different universities Kingdom wide have been showcased to the judging committee in KAUST. The successful teams receive 75,000 SAR each in seed grant funding, as part of the programme. Winners and their prizes were named as follows:

The first place: Telaa, which offers an intellectual property based, anti-corrosion protective coating that uses an innovation application of recycled crumb rubber, received 112,500 SAR.

The second place: bioTags, which offers a novel, proprietary technology to provide a platform for highly specific, yet versatile in vivo protein modifications for research and industrial production, received 75,000 SAR.

The third place: Zayer, an online tour-guide marketplace for private tours to historical and Islamic attractions in Holy Madinah, received 37,000 SAR.

The fourth place audience award: Al Maha Systems from KAUST that provides an ‘Internet of Things’ livestock health tracking system for farmers, received 37,500 SAR.
